Erika was one of my grad models this year. We got to her session late due to rain and finally getting our schedules to match up. This girl is AMAZING. I love, love, love shooting with her. Her grad dress: stunning. Absolutely gorgeous!! As per usual with Erika, she had her fair share of stalkers. In September it was a bunch of pre-teen skateboarders asking for her “digits” and telling her “to work it” and how she should smile more because its “beautiful”. This time it was in the form of some men from Nigeria, and a group of drunks in the park. Only in Regina.
After we were done shooting in the city, we headed out to to her boyfriend Katlin’s farm. Uhmmmm, ONE WORD: Amazing!! The only thing that was not amazing was the mosquitoes. They were thick out there. But Katlin bathed us in bug spray and after the bug juice Erika and I were good to go! We got some beautiful shots. This was one of those sessions that I went overboard editing for the blog. But I couldn’t help myself!! Take a peek and let me know your thoughts.

This was a thought I had right before I slipped into the unconciousness of sleep late one night. I saw a safari of girls: a lion, a zebra and a cheetah/leopard. I saw them as an abstract representation of the animals…And I immediately wanted to try and capture it! So I recruited Katie to be my zebra, Brittany to be my lion and Nicole to be my leopard…Of course Sonja was on hand for the makeup (which she applied flawlessly, as per usual) and CJ Reed, of Wired Hair Design ROCKED the hair. AMAZING!!

Did you enjoy your trip to the zoo? Loved these girls, loved this shoot….Finishing up school this week, lots of creatives coming up as well as lots of client work. A full summer of shooting. Happy girl!

I have had this shoot in my head for awhile now. I love Taylor Momsen’s style, and wanted to mimic that fashion-rock-chick style she rocks so effortlessly. Railin was the perfect model for this. Her look is so ethnic, and this girl has wardrobe. An amazing, amazing wardrobe. Sonja and I could have shot her for days using what she brought in her suitcase, it was all THAT great. And she is such a happy, sweet, funloving girl, but when the camera came out she WORKED it. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these shots.

Comments are always appreciated, so feel free to leave some here, or on my facebook FanPage. Getting ready to take a small hiatus to do my work placement, but one more shoot to come before then…

I watched Dirty Dancing a few weeks ago, and was so inspired. I haven’t watched it since I was 17, so its been awhile. It was one of my favorites as a kid. I had already had a shoot in mind for Curtis, but thought he would be great for this because he is in such good shape. Amanda and I have been talking about shooting since the beginning of January, but our schedules never seemed to work out. I’m glad it worked out this time because it was a great pairing. Both of them are great infront of the camera which makes my job behind the glass that much easier.

Lex came up with this idea after she bought this dress from NWL. She says it reminds her of a cupcake, so she emailed me about doing a shoot with cupcakes. I jumped at the opportunity! I LOVE shooting fashion because it allows me to play, and get some of the crazy stuff I see in my head OUT!! And its always great when somebody comes to me with an idea that sparks my creativity. We also did some shots with butterflies (of the plastic variety) and I LOVE them…I am partial to butterflies, though. Of course, my sidekick extraordinaire helped out with hair and makeup, the lovely Sonja Clifton-Remple. Couldn’t do what I do without her magic hands.

Mandyy is one of my favorite girls. She has the greatest personality, and she LOVES life. I dare you to spend 15 minutes with her and not fall in love with her. She has a way of making you feel like you’ve known her forever.
This shoot was a combination of our ideas. We are always on the same page and getting what I need with Mandyy infront of the glass is not work at all, it’s great fun! These photos are among my favorites…They came out so well. Couldn’t have accomplished this without my makeup artist, Sonja Clifton-Remple or the amazing hairstylist she introduced me to, Diana Myers from Salon 306. Both of them worked their magic, so we could work ours. The final result…Well see for yourself!

Let me know what you think, comments are always appreciated.

I have been thinking about this shoot for awhile now. I always loved Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” video (and Beyonces LEGS in the video, I mean, really who has legs like that!?!) and was waiting for a model to try and pull off a body shot shoot. And Melanie helped make it become a reality (Along with the help of Makeup Artist Sonja Clifton-Remple…who by the way, has done hair and makeup for all of my model shoots…More on this later). Melanie had been a dancer and a gymnast throughout her childhood, so she fit the bill PERFECTLY!! I also wanted to do try a lace makeup look and when I mentioned it to Sonja and Melanie, both were excited to give it a try! These shots came out of my camera almost as I envisioned in my head, and as a photographer, you can’t ask for anything more.

I have ALMOST reached 600 fans on my Facebook FanPage, so if you aren’t already a fan, please join by clicking the little blue “f” at the bottom of this post. Comments and critique are always appreciated.

Wow! It seems like it has been so long since I blogged…So forgive me, I am a little rusty. I finally had some time in my schedule to get back to shooting. Sam is the girl from my peacock shoot. I have an amazing time shooting with her because her laugh is contagious. And we had alot to laugh at on this shoot. Me playing makeup artist was number one. Me playing hairdresser was number two. The tangled mess of beads I draped her in was number three. And her sprained/sore foot was number four. She even brought heels and she was prepared to wear them, too! I didn’t allow it (the girl was limping in her sneakers). We had a blast and got some great shots for Sam’s portfolio.

Mandyy came in and modelled my “Colour As A Subject” for my school assignment. The freakiest part of this was, about a week before the shoot I sent her an email outlining what I wanted to do…She replied with an attached picture of a look she was wanting to try with me. And I kid you not, it was almost EXACTLY what I envisioned in my head AND it was also the color I had chosen for the shoot: purple. So creepy, it sent chills down my spine! We must be kindred spirits, Mandyy and I!
Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot, and these turned out better than I envisioned them. Which is a rarity.

So what do you think? How did I do? Feel free to leave me some feedback.

Here is Victoria, my low key shoot for school. She was fabulous and fit this look perfectly! I will probably get a bad mark on these, because the skin is too bright, but it turned out exactly how I envisioned low key. I guess I don’t like technically perfect low key images. Victoria was perfection to work with, there were 5 or so people on set when we took these, and she was in a lace corset and matching panties, and worked it!! Definately adding this girl to my website.

Let me know what you think. I appreciate feedback of all kinds!!
