This shoot with Mandyy was F-U-N!! I absolutely LOVE her. She was amazing to work with. She is someone who you meet, and feel at home with. Someone you can talk to…easily. Like an old friend you’ve known forever. Absolutely charming, this one. :) Her shoot came on the afternoon of the Rider home game versus Edmonton (the one we lost…BOOO!!!), and the rain threatened us the whole afternoon. It held off until 15 minutes after the shoot was over. The photography gods were smiling on us that day. These shots are fab-u-lous….I love that yellow leather jacket!! Sooooo sexy.

Walking through the mall one day, I saw a peacock feather on a t-shirt. I was instantly inspired to do this shoot. Met Sam downtown and was worried I wouldn’t recognize her…But then I remembered she was going to have peacock feathers stuck to her face! Brave girl she was, we met at Booster Juice in The Cornwall Centre, and she endured many double takes and her fair share of interested stares. She has a wonderfully warm and bubbly personality, it was hard to get shots of her not smiling…She has the most beautiful, small smile that just naturally sits on her mouth. Its not forced, its just there. Part of who she is. These images turned out beautifully.

With Lex, we decided to do vintage pin-up.  Her hair and makeup were perfect for this, and when I saw what she had picked out clothing wise, I was over the moon. Our shoot was, interesting, to say the least (see below for details). But the photos are beautiful because Lex looks like she stepped out of the 40’s. Perfection!

We shot these out in the country. The shot on the swing was done in an abandoned schoolyard outside a one-horse town…Not really. No horses. But maybe six houses. I park my van so we are blocking the houses sightline, and get Lex set up in the swing. And I am so excited. Because this is one of those shots I know I am going to LOVE!! (And I do love it). I start snapping away happily, and low and behold, a crazy farm lady comes out and tells us to get the HE-double hockey sticks out of there, as there are lots of children that run around there, and they don’t need to come upon this. I hadn’t even thought of that, and completely agree with her. So we get up to go, and she turns and tells us we have to leave-AGAIN. Now I am getting a little annoyed. We were on our way to my van. I did nothing other than agree with her. And I didn’t continue shooting while she was talking, or even take another shot once she was done. So again, I agree with her. But it doesn’t end there….She then tells us that if we don’t leave, she will be calling in the RCMP. Really? I don’t think there was ever any need to pull out that card. We were nothing but compliant with her requests. It just rubbed me the wrong way. There was just no need to be so blatantly rude. To each their own, I guess.

Heading to bed now. My eyes are sleeepppppyyyyyy.

Jamie is probably one of the nicest people I have ever met. We headed out into the country for our shoot and it was a beautiful day, with soft, golden light. Jamie’s organizational skills were amazing, she definately put me to shame. She came with all of her outfits co-ordinated with shoes, and the jewellery options were in baggies clipped to each outfit. And her hard work paid off!! Note to self: Organization pays. Absolutely gorgeous shots. You can see more of Jamie on my website and my Facebook fan page (if you click on the little blue “f” at the bottom of this post, you can join).
